What is an ARC?
An ARC is an advance reader’s copy—also known as a galley, proof, or reading copy. It is an early copy of a book sent to reviewers, booksellers, educators, librarians, and other trade professionals.
How can I request ARCs for St. Martin’s Publishing Group’s upcoming titles?
Am I guaranteed to receive an ARC or finished copy if I’ve filled out the appropriate request forms?
How do you select who receives a review copy?
The assigned marketers and publicists for each book will review the requests submitted via the forms and while each campaign has different goals and strategies, here are a few items we consider for all requests:
How will I know if I’ve been selected to receive a review copy and when will I receive the book?
After the request forms close each season, the marketers will review the requests for their titles and compile their influencer lists. They will be in touch via email if you’ve been selected to receive a copy. The timing of our influencer strategies varies from book to book; you may hear from us very early or closer to the book’s publication date. Requesting a copy via the form does not guarantee you will receive one.
What if I need to update my information after I've signed up and/or requested titles?
Please send any updates to your profile information (email address, mailing address, social media account handles, etc.) in an email us at trademarketing@stmartins.com. Please do not register for the program again.
Can I also request digital review copies from NetGalley?
You are welcome to request digital review copies from NetGalley. Please be sure your member type is listed as “reviewer” and review SMPG’s Approval Preferences for more information on what we look for in NetGalley requests. Our NetGalley strategies vary book to book and multiple members of our team review our NetGalley requests, so if your request is denied there you may still hear from the marketer directly about receiving a copy.
Will I be compensated for my review?
Are there any specific stipulations influencers should follow when posting?
We ask that when influencers receive any combination of free books, swag, etc. that you disclose that you are receiving items from the publisher by using “#sponsored” or “#ad” in a prominent place in your post copy, and abide by all disclosure laws and regulations. Also letting your audience know “I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review” (or the like) is also helpful.
